Comfort Kits & Family Support

Thoughtful essentials. Practical help. A community that cares.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, everyday life changes quickly. Between appointments, treatment, and caring for the household, families can find themselves carrying more than they ever expected.

Comfort Kits & Family Support is one way the Carsyn Neille Foundation comes alongside families, with useful items, personal encouragement, and practical gestures of care that help them feel supported.

Care, thoughtfully chosen.

Our Comfort Kits bring together items for rest, quiet activities, personal care, and connection. We consider comfort, usefulness, product ingredients, and the realities of life at home and during treatment.

Depending on the child’s needs and available supplies, a kit may include:

  • A soft blanket and comfortable socks.

  • An eye mask for moments of rest.

  • Fragrance-free personal-care essentials.

  • A puzzle, compact game, or cards for quiet activities and conversation.

  • A personal note reminding the child and family that they are cared for.

Contents vary. We work with families to understand preferences and restrictions, and personal-care items should be checked against the child’s oncology team’s guidance before use.

Understanding the choices.

We want families to understand the thinking behind what we share. Kits may include brief educational resources about topics such as fragrance-free products, light and evening routines, and everyday comfort.

Our approach encourages curiosity and informed choices. These resources support family conversations and do not replace guidance from the child’s healthcare team.

Support beyond the kit.

Sometimes the most helpful gesture is a meal on a demanding day or someone taking the time to listen.

Alongside Comfort Kits, CNF may coordinate meals, encouragement, or other practical assistance based on a family’s circumstances and available community support.

We begin with a conversation: What would be helpful to your family right now?

Families are welcome to receive this support on its own. A Comfort Kit or meal does not require participation in a bedroom project or another CNF service.

Who we support.

This offering is for families impacted by childhood cancer. Parents and caregivers may contact us directly. Friends, healthcare professionals, and community members may also inquire about referring a family, with the family’s permission.
